On Saturday August 15th 2009 a new Guinness world record was achieved in Platin, Duleek, Co. Meath, Ireland. A record number of 175 combine harvesters worked simultaneously in one field. Though conditions were damp early morning the sun and a light breeze graced the field after lunch and by 5 pm the 175 combines began to roar. The massive cavalcade began to edge through the wheat which was a sight to behold. The crop was harvested in 15 minutes. A massive congratulations and appreciation goes out to all the participants who devoted their time and effort to the event. Many thanks to all our sponsors supporters and all who helped in the organising & running of this truly remarkable occasion. We hope that all who attended enjoyed the spectacle. Barnardos, Self Help Africa, Gary Kelly Cancer Support & the National Rehabilitation Hospital were selected as beneficiaries of the proceeds from the event. €75,000 has been presented to each of these charities, that’s a total of €300,000 raised as a result of Combines 4 Charity & a world record was achieved, not bad for a day's work!
